REGION 8 CHILD CARE AWARE
Parent Aware Quality Coach

Southwestern Minnesota Opportunity Council, Inc. (SMOC) is currently accepting applications for the petit-time position of Parent Aware Quality Coach (30 hours per week with the potential to become 40 hours per week). The position will work with early childhood programs in the northern part of Region 8 (Lincoln, Lyon, Redwood, Pipestone, Murray, and Cottonwood counties). 

The position is responsible for supporting child care and preschool programs to receive and maintain their Parent Aware quality rating by implementing the Parent Aware quality coaching model created by DHS. The position will provide technical assistance to early childhood programs and document work through required data entry. This position works in collaboration with staff t the local, district,
and state Child Care Aware offices. 

Skills required are: knowledge of child development, early learning standards, and community resources; knowledge of child care practices and parenting issues; sensitive to and ability to work with people of diverse cultures; ability to work independently as well as part of a team; ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work; excellent communication skills in front of a group as well as on the telephone ; second (+) language beneficial ; demonstrated computer knowledge; confidentiality; ability to travel; ability to attend evening and weekend meetings and trainings. 

Applicants need a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, School-age Care, or Bachelor 's Degree with 30 college credits earned in courses related to an appropriate Child Development focus AND 2 years of direct service experience in early childhood.              OR             An Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education  or Child Development or related field, OR 60 college credits, with 30 college credits earned in courses related to a Child Development focus AND 3 years of direct service experience in early childhood. 

Must have a valid driver's license and reliable vehicle.
