Overview

The Southwestern Minnesota Opportunity Council (SMOC) is seeking a reliable and customer-focused Transit Bus Driver to provide safe and efficient transportation services to residents of Nobles County. This position operates a 14–17 passenger bus and plays a key role in serving the community.

Specific Skills

To carry out the responsibilities, bus drivers will have the skills or training in these areas: Traffic and safety laws, daily maintenance checks, record-keeping, and defensive driving skills. Ability to submit accurate and timely data. Flexibility, ability to get along with people, good judgement, and effective public communication. Medium work, occasionally lifting to 40-60 pounds. Mobility in and out of bus. Able to sit to drive the duration of all scheduled bus routes. Able to perform maintenance checks to buses.

Educational Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent required
Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License with Passenger Endorsement (CDL-P), or willingness to obtain
Good driving record and proof of auto insurance
Experience operating light trucks and working with the public preferred
Equivalent combinations of training and experience will be considered

Salary

Starting hourly rate $21.42-$22.17 based on skill, education and experience.
