Substitute/Back-up Transit Bus Driver

Overview

The Southwestern Minnesota Opportunity Council (SMOC) is seeking a reliable and customer-focused Substitute/Back-up Transit Bus Driver to provide safe and efficient transportation services to residents of Nobles County. This position operates a 14–17 passenger bus and plays a key role in serving the community. Part-time driver hours are flexible. No evening or weekend hours.

Responsible For

To carry out the responsibilities, bus drivers will have the skills or training in these areas: Traffic and safety laws, daily maintenance checks, record-keeping, and defensive driving skills. Ability to submit accurate and timely data. Flexibility, ability to get along with people, good judgement, and effective public communication. Medium work, occasionally lifting to 40-60 pounds. Mobility in and out of bus. Able to sit to drive the duration of all scheduled bus routes. Able to perform maintenance checks to buses.

Educational Requirements

· High School Diploma or equivalent required · Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License with Passenger Endorsement (CDL-P), or willingness to obtain · Good driving record and proof of auto insurance · Experience operating light trucks and working with the public preferred · Equivalent combinations of training and experience will be considered

Starting hourly rate $21.95-$23.52 based on skill, education and experience.
