We are seeking a full-time (35–39 hours per week) Family Advocate/Classroom Aide for its Head Start program in Pipestone, MN. This position partners with families to support child development, family well-being, and school readiness through culturally responsive, goal-oriented services.

Specific Skills
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Bilingual abilities are highly preferred but not required; ability to work effectively with interpreters is essential. Demonstrated ability to work with individuals and families from diverse economic, social, and cultural backgrounds while maintaining privacy and confidentiality. Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word required. Must have reliable transportation, a valid Minnesota driver's license, and current vehicle insurance. Physical requirements include the ability to sit on the floor, stand and walk for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and carry up to 25 pounds.
Responsible For
Responsibilities include promoting parent-child relationships, supporting family safety, health, financial stability, and life goals, and connecting families with community resources. The role also assists with transportation by riding to and from the center, supporting the driver, and following transportation guidelines. Approximately half of the workday will be spent assisting in the Head Start classroom, with the remaining time dedicated to family advocacy and support services.

Educational Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Infant-Toddler CDA, Family Service Credential, or willingness to obtain within first year of hire is required.
  • Have a valid driver’s license and up-to-date insurance on their vehicle (a driver report will be requested with our insurance company).
  • CPR/First Aid certified or willingness to obtain.
