Senior Employment

At SMOC we are committed to improving the quality of life for low-income, financially eligible seniors by assigning them to temporary subsidized jobs within their community.

What is the Senior Employment Program & why is help available?

This is a federally funded program to recruit, train and place eligible persons in subsidized employment training to provide meaningful part-time paid work experiences to help them find employment in private industry or the public sector.

Who can apply?

Participants must be unemployed, 55 years or older and must meet income guidelines.

The Senior Community Service Employment Program for Older Americans is operated by the U.S. Department of Labor and by local project grantees. Funds are provided by the Older Americans Act and is 100% Federally funded.

SMOC provides SCSEP in six a county area of southwest MN including the counties of Cottonwood, Jackson, Murray, Nobles, Pipestone, and Rock
