The
Nobles County Joint Powers Transit Authority is a partnership between the City of Worthington, Nobles County, and SMOC. This
partnership was created in June, 1999 to operate, administer, promote, and manage public transportation within Nobles County,
including the City of Worthington. A comprehensive public transportation system called "Prairieland Transit System"
coordinates public transportation provided by the Nobles County Heartland Express buses and the Worthington Taxi Service vehicles.
Prairieland Transit System began providing public transportation through a centralized dispatch system in 2002. All Nobles
County residents have equal access to public transportation through a fare discount for their taxi ride from the Worthington
Taxi Service or a ride on the Nobles County Heartland Express route. The central dispatch system is available from 7:30 a.m.
to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
